Believe Equine Rescue is a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to saving horses from abuse, neglect and slaughter. Lisa Martinez established a deep love of all animals during childhood while learning how to care for them on her father’s ranch in upstate New York. As an adult, she has dedicated her life to animal rescue working with dog, cat and equine rescues for over 20 years. Over the past ten years, Lisa’s focus shifted to private horse rescue specializing in orphans and pregnant mares.

Today, Lisa is the primary owner of Believe Equine Rescue & Rehabilitation Center, Inc. where she cares for 22 equine rescues that were once abused and neglected. Each horse that has come to Believe Rescue has its own unique story. Some grew old and developed special needs that required more than the owner was willing to give, some became lame and were sent to kill pens, others were just abandoned simply because the owner could no longer afford to care for them.
