"ADOPTED!" is one of the great words we love to hear in horse rescue. Here at Believe Equine Rescue, we put a lot of hard work into finding great homes for great horses! We never rush the process, we believe in quality not quantity. We want the horse that has come from many failed situations to live a wonderful life in a great home.
Every horse that is adopted is vetted and evaluated. Adopters must apply and be approved before signing a contract. Every horse has a story. We learn who they are through daily interaction, training and listening carefully to their unspoken words. This helps us to match each horse with their special person; one who understands their story and loves them unconditionally.
Our Suzy Q (pictured below) was raised at Believe. She had a very rough start at life. I would say, Suzy Q is a great example of why we rescue and how we change the lives of horses one at a time.
I am very proud to say Suzy Q found her very special person and has been ADOPTED! She is enjoying her life with a great young lady. Thank you to allwho helped Suzy along her journey. A very special thank you to her great sponsor and trainer in Rutherford NC.
ADOPTED! Anyone looking for a reining or barrel horse prospect? Suzy was said to come from reining lines as and was sent to a feed lot as a foal, starving to stand in With many others headed to bad places almost 3 yrs ago.
She is a beautiful girl, carriers the Rabicano gene. Can’t wait to see her color changes as she gets older. She is a thinker and can figure you out....she will not be a pasture ornament. She wants more! She Needs someone to give her lots of love, a job and is not new to horse ownership.
Don’t let this 14.2 hand girl fool you. She is very fast and needs a person that will build her confidence, correct her and reassure you will love! Once you have gained her trust, her heart is yours! She loves hard and will do anything for you if she does.
We want to give many thanks to our farriers that work with the many hooves at Believe. They are very patient and always take their time to treat each horse at is should be treated!
We have received horses that have had very little care in years! It’s a process to get their feet free from thrush, white line disease, abscesses, bruises and even had one with maggots in the frog from an old puncture!
We strive to make them healthy and sound again. It’s a journey and the outcome is glorious!
It truly took a village to get Liberty to safety. I met Liberty at the Lumberton Auction in NC. She was 6 years old and 7 months pregnant. Her coat was full and her mane was matted. She looked very depressed and I think that’s what caught my eye. A friend and I decided we needed to get her to safety. However, right before she went up for auction a mini and her baby needed emergency help. So while we were distracted a kill buyer agent bought her. We thought we lost her forever. We put out info asking if anyone knew her whereabouts. Then it was a miracle! Less than 36 hours she was found by another rescue in PA ready to ship. She was with us 24 hours later. Thank you again to the village that stepped up to help her! Shortly after her arrival, she contracted a fever and pneumonia. We did not know if she and her unborn baby would survive. We also discovered she had hunters bump. Her back was so sore and delivery of a baby could ake matters worse. Thankfully, we have lots of experience with mommas and babies! She received high-qualtiy nutrition and the on going from our vets. She grew stronger every day. On Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 5am Liberty gave birth to healthy Baby Belle. Baby Belle had the longest legs ever and today she is a spitting image of her momma including the Diva attitude!
